Top Day For Goodwood
09 Apr 2013

Goodwood Stud made its presence felt at yesterday’s Taranaki meeting with three wins to savour at the Pukekura Raceway.

Homebred Rock Express started the ball rolling when the lightly-tried five-year-old broke his maiden.

By Fastnet Rock, he is out of the More Than Ready mare Gifted Lass who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Presently.

From the family of Gr 3 Wellington Stakes winner Weissmuller, Rock Express was a $115,000 Karaka buy from Goodwood’s 2009 Premier Sale draft.

Resident stallion Howbaddouwantit then chipped in with a winning double courtesy of his daughters Mels Evie and Mi Apache Horse.

Mels Evie has now won three of her last five starts for Wanganui trainer Stephen Crutchley, who also prepares Mi Apache Horse.

She is closely related to Howbaddouwantit’s Gr 1 Ellerslie Sires’ Produce and Gr 2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes winner Mi Jubilee.
