No weight worries for impressive first-up
23 Sep 2017Arraignment made light of his topweight when he opened his spring campaign at Hastings this afternoon in emphatic fashion.
The five-year-old returned from a five month break to put away a competitive Rating 65 line-up.
“First-up and with 60kg that was a huge performance,” rider Danielle Johnson said.
The gelding was on the pace from barrier rise and, after taking control early in the run home, held a strong gallop to win.
“He’s a much stronger horse this year,” trainer Danica Guy said. “He had trialled nicely and I expected him to run well.”
A son of Nom du Jeu, Arraignment was bred by Goodwood Stud and sold at Karaka in 2014 for $40,000.
He is out of Bail Us Out, a half-sister by Justice Prevails to the Gr.1 Sydney Cup winner Honor Babe.
