Pentathlon more than pays his way
01 Nov 2016Pentathlon was beaten but far from disgraced in this afternoon’s Gr.1 Melbourne Cup at Flemington.
The Goodwood Stud graduate came from the back of the field in the hands of Mark Du Plessis to finish 9th.
That performance earned the connnections of the John Wheeler-trained son of Petire a cool $A100,000.
The Taranaki horseman bought Pentathlon for $85,000 out fo Goodwood’s 2013 Select Sale draft to Karaka.
He also pre[ared te horse’s close relation Pentathon, a dual Group Two and Three winning-stayer.
