Honesty rewarded at New Plymouth
23 Dec 2015Master Wong capped his continued improvement this preparation with a deserved first success at New Plymouth this evening.
The lightly-tried four-year-old had placed in three of his previous starts before breaking through on his home track over a mile.
Trained by John Wheeler, the Goodwood Stud graduate is a son of the former farm resident Chinese Dragon.
The gelding is out of the Howbaddouwantit mare Toohottohandle, who is the mother of the multiple winner Volcano.
The dam is also a half-sister to the Listed Castletown Stakes winner Pearly Spencer.
The headline act in the pedigree is the former crack sprinter Bawalaksana (Railway Handicap, Telegraph Handicap).
