Winning start for talented three-year-old
30 Sep 2015

The New Zealand 2000 Guineas might come up too soon for What’s The Story, but another Group One feature is on the radar.

Jointly-bred by Fairdale and Goodwood Studs, the three-year-old was a dazzling debut winner at Ruakaka this afternoon.

“He would need to get a rattle on for the 2000 Guineas,” said Stephen McKee, who trains What’s The Story with Eddie Chippendale.

“We’ll see how he comes through his next race in three weeks, but there is a Derby to think of.”

A son of Savabeel, What’s The Story was sold under the Fairdale banner at Karaka in 2014 for $80,000 to Albert Bosma’s Go Racing Ltd.

He is a son of the Carnegie mare Tall Story, also the dam of the multiple winner Group performer Base.

Tall Story is a half-sister to the Fell family’s triple Group One winner Tall Poppy (Air NZ Stakes, Thorndon Mile, Waikato Draught Sprint).
