Goodwood youngster stars at trials
06 Aug 2014Rory Hutchings has already labelled a Goodwood Stud graduate as a leading two-year-old prospect in Graeme and Debbie Rogerson’s yard.
The stable apprentice rode the daughter of Iffraaj to a dominant victory in a 630 metre heat at yesterday’s Te Teko trials.
“She was very good and had her head on her chest and her ears pricked – Rory said he thinks she’s the best two-year-old in the stable at this stage,” Debbie Rogerson said.
The as yet unnamed youngster will be seen in action in one of the first juvenile events of the new season at Ruakaka or Wanganui.
A $65,000 yearling, the filly is out of the More Than Ready mare Gifted Lass who is a half-sister to the multiple Australian stakes winner Presently.
Gifted Lass, already the dam of the winner Rock Express, is from the family of the Hastings Triple Crown series contender Weissmuller.
