An international pedigree was to the fore at Hawera when Gold Cape added to her record.
She won the fifth race of her career when she struck early in a new preparation for trainer John Wheeler.
The Cape Cross mare had run second when resuming and impressively went one beter on Saturday.
“I thought she’d run well first-up and she’s a pretty good mare,” Wheeler said.
Part-owned by Rex Fell, Gold Cape is out of the unraced Irish-bred Casting For Gold.
She is a three-quarter sister to the Gr 2 Gimcrack Stakes winner and sire Mujtahid.
Gold Cape is also a half-sister to winners in France, Hong Kong and Australia.
She currently holds a nomination for the Gr 3 New Zealand Cup.
